Grootvlei SAPS would like to warn all road users NOT to stop when stopped by the police on the N3 freeway and R54 route with a blue light that is attached to the dash board. Especially during the night. Hijackers pretend to be police doing stop and searches. Drive to a safe location with hazzards on and call for assistance.
The incidents happen between Wilge Plaza and De Hoek Plaza on the N3 Freeway also R54 Provincial Route between Villiers and Vereeniging.
NB: If they are real police officials they will follow you until it is safe to stop.
NB: If possible take the registration number of the vehicle, make and the colour.
Types of vehicles that are registered are:
- Ford Rangers
- Toyota Fortuners
- Toyota Bakkies GD6
- Toyota Landcruisers
