Alert: Beware of Electricity Token Scams

by | Sep 17, 2024 | Social Media Scams

A Gauteng-based company recently fell victim to a suspicious online advertisement for electricity tokens. After paying R350, the token was never delivered, and the “supplier” demanded an additional R300 with no assurance of fulfillment.

Our investigation revealed alarming red flags:

  • Refusal to provide official invoices or company/bank details
  • Unverified identity

We strongly suspect a scam aimed at exploiting unsuspecting individuals.

Warning: Never pay for electricity tokens without verifying the seller’s legitimacy. Ensure you:

  • Research the company thoroughly
  • Demand official documentation
  • Confirm the seller’s identity

Stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to protect yourself and others.
